Option 1


Pick up at one of the Rest Camps inside Kruger National Park

We meet & greet at Reception of the camp were you have lodged, one hour after gate opening. Your Ranger will welcome you and discuss the day’s activity in full. We will depart on a game drive with an Open Safari Vehicle.

Maximize your Kruger National Park experience by going on safari with us, we not only spot game easier but also have the advantage of being in the park on a daily basis and knows the roaming area of different species of mammals. To top it all we also get assistance by other open safari vehicles in the area of operation by calling in sightings over a VHF radio to one another! One of the bigger advantages of the Open Safari Vehicle is that you do sit very high and look over the roofs of normal cars.

We will not only assist you in spotting the game but also change every sighting into an experience by interpreting the bush and give a detailed explanation of mammal behavior. Our Rangers are experienced and well qualified to share a wealth of knowledge. On this safari our smell sense is also utilized as the Open Safari Vehicle allows one to pick up the different senses in the bush.

We depart, as friends round about 16h00 at Reception of the Rest Camp were you are lodging.



Option 2


Pick up at a lodging outside Kruger National Park.

Before the gates open you will be greeted by your Ranger at your Lodge or Hotel. Your Ranger will welcome you and discuss the day’s activity in full. We will depart on an Open Vehicle for a full day’s safari in the Kruger National Park to the closest gate. Arriving just before the gates open.

On this early morning game drive we expect to see the nocturnal animals heading for a den to sleep the day away and the diurnal game waking up to start another day in their lives in Africa. It is also the best time of the day see lion activity. The ever-present cool boxes and blankets on the vehicle will ensure that nobody goes thirsty or experience a morning chill.

Panorama Tours

A full day tour, winding our way through pine and eucalyptus forests. This route consists of breathtaking views such as “Gods Window”, Bourkes Luck Potholes – surreal rock sculptures formed as a result of water erosion over thousands of years, Blyde River Canyon, the three Rondavels and refreshing waterfalls. Taking us back in time, we wander through the mining village

Pilgrims Rest - dating as far back as 1873. Lunch included on a full day.

Transfers

We do transfers to and from all major airports in the area to remote wilderness camps, even dive camps in Mozambique. We have air-conditioned 4x4 transfer vehicles to tackle any terrain. Bottled water is always complimentary on route. All our transfer guides are qualified. Please enquire for a competitive quote.

A transfer with a difference to and from your game activity includes Gods window, The Pinnacle, Berlin waterfall, travelling through Graskop and Sabie en-route to your destination. Please make provision for approximately four and Half-hours for this excursion. Pickup from KMIA (MQP) or accommodation establishment specially designed to fill the gap.

Transfers

Spoil your self with one of Katambora Safaris tours & transfers. All our vehicles are not only well maintained but is also air-conditioned and a complimentary water is offered in transit. We are in possession of road transport permits and do carry excessive insurances. Our transfer drivers are all qualified English speaking guides that knows our area of operation intimately and are in vhf radio contact with our operations office to ensure your safety, comfort and quality of service.

We tow a luggage trailer for more than two persons to ensure that your luggage is well protected against the elements and dust.

All our Wildlife tours can be conducted in a closed vehicle should you not wish to participate on the Open vehicle safaris at no extra cost provided that the party is at least four people.

Night Safari

Your Night Game Drive & Bush Dinner Safari starts early afternoon, where your Ranger will meet & greet you at our place of residence. We will depart on an Open Safari Vehicle for a Night Drive and boma dinner Safari in a Private Concession in the Kruger National Park. We will travel to Mjejane River lodge, a 5 star lodge on the banks of the Crocodile River. Over your welcome drink the Ranger discuss the night’s activity in full. We will depart on an Open Safari Vehicle for a Night Game Drive & Bush Dinner Safari.

The moment we enter through the gates your game viewing experience begins! We will look for game till the sun begins to set. At a safe outcrop we will disembark and enjoy sundowners on a safe spot to watch the sun set, sipping on cold beverages until the dusk light forces us to depart and look for more game with powerful spotlights.

The strong beams of the spotlight will open the African bush for us and we will spot different game species with their nocturnal behavior. Spend as much time observing them as needed. Your Ranger will share his/her knowledge of the bush with you! Leopards are spotted regularly on the night drives.

Round about 19h30 we will drive Mjejane River lodge, a 5 star lodge, where a roaring fire will welcome you to the traditional Bush Dinner! Bathed in the flames of flickering torches a scene will light up of set tables with your host around the fire serving a meal fit for a king! A cash bar will be on hand.

After the scrumptious meal we will linger around the fire until the party decides that it is time to go!

Lions are known to do most of their hunting at night. Who knows we might just encounter a kill!

We will not only assist you in spotting the game but also change every sighting into an experience by interpreting the bush and give a detailed explanation of mammal behavior. Our Rangers are experienced and well qualified to share a wealth of knowledge.

We depart, as friends round about 21h00 when we return you to your lodge.

Bush Walks

Your Walking Safari starts very early, before the crack of dawn, where your Ranger will meet & greet you at your Lodge or Hotel. There the Ranger will welcome you and discuss the day’s activity in full. We will depart on an Open Safari Vehicle for a Morning Walking Safari in a Private Concession in the Kruger National Park.

Arriving at the concession we will enter at the gate and drive to Mjejane River lodge, a 5 star lodge overlooking the Crocodile River. The moment we enter through the gates your game viewing experience begins! Over a steaming cup of hot beverage your Ranger will do a proper pre-trail briefing. We then board a specialized game viewing vehicle and drive to an area where there is bountiful game for the walk.

Once the vehicle is secured under a shady tree your Ranger will once again brief you on trail etiquette. Pending on the size of the group you will also be accompanied by a second armed Ranger, also known as Second rifle.

In single file, walking softly, with all senses pealed to be alerted of any game movement you will walk through untamed African bush! Every now and then when your Ranger spot something interesting, he/she will point it out and explain the creature big or small, might it even be one of the big five! You will do regular stops to talk and have a sip of water during the three-hour walk. The weakest member of the party will determine the pace of the walk. It is a very informative walk looking at insets, plants, tracks, dung, birds and of course game!

On this early morning game walk we expect to see the nocturnal animals heading for a den to sleep the day away and the diurnal game waking up to start another day in their lives in Africa. It is also the best time of the day see lion activity.

Upon our return to Mjejane River Lodge after our walk we will be thrilled with a scrumptious breakfast over looking the Crocodile River.

Kruger Park Over-Night Accomodated Safaris

Day 1

We meet & greet at the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in the corridor right opposite the arrivals hall from where we will depart with our specialized game viewer and catering trailer to the Kruger National Park. The drive of 45 minutes is through scenic terrain. Once we have entered into the Park we will stop for a quick lunch in a safe, shady spot.

Experiencing the Kruger National Park with us is an unforgettable experience! Something is happening all the time. If it is not a shy Kudu lurking behind a bush or an Elephant being spotted crossing the road in front of us, the abundant bird life, small mammals or insects will ensure that something is spotted doing something interesting. Your knowledgeable Ranger will interpret the bush and sighted game’s behavior.

Our game drive, snaking through the bush, will in the end bring us to our rest camp in the Kruger National Park for the night. Your night's accomodation will be in a family bungalow or similar with en-suite ablution, meals to be served from our private boma on the campsite.

Our Campsite Manager will quickly have roaring fire going and a cold beverage is enjoyed around the campfire till dinner is served, prepared on the coals in front of your eyes! This is quality time spend pondering about the days sightings with nocturnal sounds as back ground music. A short story or two also assist to add to the experience. After clearing the table quality time spend pondering around the camp fire until your bed is beckoning you for a well deserved night rest.

Day 2

Before sunrise you will be presented with hot Coffee & Tea, complimented by rusks upon awakening. On this early morning we game drive to see more animals and birds. We expect to see the nocturnal animals heading for a den to sleep the day away and the diurnal game waking up to start another day in their lives in Africa.

It is also the best time of the day see lion activity. The ever-present cool boxes and blankets on the vehicle will ensure that nobody goes thirsty or experience a morning chill. A container with snacks is on hand to nibble on, for those who experience early morning peckish-ness before brunch. Upon entering the rest camp a scrumptious brunch is presented, freshly prepared by our Campsite Manager. By this time your accommodation have been serviced already.

After clearing the table quality personal time is pent in camp. On the heat of the day we spend leisure time in the rest camp, bird watching to avoid being scorched in the sun. It is how ever your choice, to keep on driving looking for game or to have leisure time in camp.

Round about 14h30 to 15h00 we depart on an afternoon game drive after enjoying high tea. We will follow the game drive routs, looking up new and old friends alike on the route. Once again a fully stocked cool box with ice will be on hand to quench the thirst and a container with snacks is on hand to nibble on for those that feels the nibbles coming on. We will be staying out later returning to camp just before the gates closes, to maximize our game viewing opportunity.

Upon our arrival in camp, our camp fire will be roaring once again. Drinks around the camp fire while our supper is prepared on the coals in front of our eyes! After clearing the table you will be left on your own around the camp fire to enjoy the nocturnal sounds.

Day 3

Another early morning start with hot Coffee & Tea, complimented by rusks upon awakening and a game drive to spot the nocturnal and diurnal game. Experience the bush coming alive, awakening for the day that lays a head.

We will enjoy another scrumptious brunch well prepared by our Campsite Manager while we are on drive! We depart on this day. We will be breaking camp and slowly head for the Airport where we will depart as friends.

Note that a multiple day overnight safari will be exactly the same, with the difference that we repeat the days in between the same as the second day.

Trails Camp Experience

DAY 1

    Arrival:

    Your Trails Camp experience commences when you are met by your professional trails ranger at Mjejane River Lodge. From here you are transferred by open safari vehicle deep into the African Bush on our private concession inside the Kruger National Park.

    Upon arrival at the camp you will be welcomed by friendly camp staff. Over a hot or cold beverage your professional trails ranger will brief you on camp routine before the friendly camp staff will check you into your tent and help you settle in. Relax and absorb the atmosphere that the pioneers of old experienced many years ago.

    Sundowner Drive:

    Around 15h00 your ranger will ask you for your sundowners drink order. At 16h00 you will depart on an exciting afternoon-night drive on an open safari vehicle. With the help of your ranger and tracker you will spot game until the sun sets, this on it's own is an awesome experience in Africa.

    At a safe spot you will disembark and enjoy sundowners and snacks, listening to the sounds of Africa while watching the splendor of the setting sun until it night sets in.

    The brilliant beam of the powerful spotlight opens the night revealing the African bush and its nocturnal creatures as they go about their nightly business. Take as much time to observe as needed. Your professional ranger will interpret the sighting of the moment.

    Dinner and Overnight:

    About 19h30 we arrive back at camp to be greeted by the warm glow of kerosene lamps and camp fire. A scrumptious bush dinner, prepared over hot coals, is served under a Gazebo on perfectly laid tables. After dinner you relax and chat until it suits you.

    Ablutions are basic but clean and functional. Our showers are warm and our toilets are environmentally friendly chemical toilets.

DAY 2

    Bush Walk:

    Your professional trails ranger will wake you up to experience the wakening of the bush. Over coffee, tea & rusks your professional trails ranger will brief you on trail etiquette before setting out on a thrilling early morning walk of between 2½ to 3½ hours. On the bush walk we will explore tracks, insects, birds and lots of mammals.

    Brunch / Departure:

    On returning to camp a delicious brunch prepared by the camp chef will be served. After brunch it is leisure time in camp for clients staying multiple days and the departing guests will be transported back to Mjejane River Lodge to be collected by their transfer vehicle which will take them to their next destination.
